Short-term Emergency Financial Assistance

  • Assistance is provided ONLY when all other sources of funding have been exhausted

  • Applications for short term financial assistance are made through renal social workers at community units, hospital renal programs or kidney care clinics

  • Applicant must meet eligibility requirements

Support may be available for Emergency Medical costs -- assessed by renal social workers; assistance is provided by Kidney Foundation

Description of Services:

  • Focuses on improving the quality of life for people living with kidney disease by promoting public and patient education and awareness
  • Provides "Living with Reduced Kidney Function" and "Living With Kidney Disease" patient Handbooks to people living with kidney disease
  • Supports patient and caregiver well-being through a peer support program. Support is provided to patients wherever they might be in their kidney journey.
  • Promotes organ donation
  • Provides short-term emergency financial assistance to patients
  • Assists with funding a summer camp program for adults
  • Promotes advocacy and contributes to research
  • Conducts fundraising activities locally and regionally to raise funds to support programs and services; local funds help patients with out-of-town medical expenses (meals, accommodations)
